Marion
Marion is a suburb in the City of Marion, around 10 kilometres south-west of the city centre of Adelaide, the capital of South Australia. Founded as a rural village in 1838 on the banks of the Sturt River, Marion was found to have rich soil and the population expanded rapidly. Colonel William Light laid out the plan for the village, as he had done with the City of Adelaide itself.
Marion is bordered on the north by Oaklands Road, on the east by Marion Road, on the south by Sturt Road and on the west by a roughly straight line from Finniss Street in the south to The Parade.
A great place and yet so central only 20 minutes to the CBD! Marion has everything within easy access: Marion shopping centre and public transport hub nearby, with beaches and hills within short drive, health centre and first class state aquatic centre to name a few all make life easy and full of fun.
Offering a wide range of shops, fast food restaurants, cinemas and bars, Marion is an entirely self-sufficient suburb. There is the Flinders Hospital (both public and private), a number of nearby primary and secondary schools, and many sports facilities including a swimming centre, oval and tennis courts.
The roads are wide and the blocks are a good size. There are also a good number of units and townhouses in the area so there is a bit for everyone. The suburb is generally clean, safe, quiet, and friendly. Mostly professionals, families with kids and beach lovers live here.
